I knew very little about the whole Bilderberg Group meetings, and so last week when the conference was being reported in the news I didn’t really know what it was all about. I did a google search and lo and behold came across all kinds of stuff. The Bilderberg group conference is an annual ‘private meeting’ of top officials, CEO’s and global influencers. The meetings are held in secret under Chatham House rules. Due to the high profile attendee list many argue that these guys are actually the ones pulling the global strings.
What has the Bilderberg Group got to do with SEPA for Corporates?
Well, this is a blog about payments and technology around the world, but primarily focusing on Europe. One of the google results was a Telegraph article which revealed interesting stuff about what has been said and debated in previous Bilderberg group meetings such as:
- The creation of a European Union
- How a European monetary system might work
- German unification
- Other juicy stuff…
All of a sudden, the Bilderberg Group meetings started to sound really important to me because these guys are discussing (some would argue they are doing much more than that) important themes that are determining and impacting the lives of many people. Bringing it back to SEPA – these guys potentially laid the foundation of a European political and monetary union, which in turn led to the SEPA project. So, in short what these guys are discussing MATTERS!
After doing a bit of reading, I thought I’d share with you what I have learnt in a simple Bilderberg Group 2015 infographic.
